Robin Williams' iconic crocodile scene savagely ripped apart by expert

The late Robin Williams is remembered for countless iconic movie scenes throughout his almost 40-year-long acting career. From portraying Mrs Doubtfire to voicing the Genie in Aladdin, there wasn’t a role he couldn’t do. However, an alligator and crocodile expert has a bone to pick with Williams’ famous crocodile scene from Jumanji.

The 1995 movie featured a celebrity cast including Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Bradley Pierce, and Kirsten Dunst. Williams’ character, Alan Parrish, brings home a board game called Jumanji, which had been buried a century earlier. He’s sucked into the game, along with Nora and Peter Shepherd and Sarah Whittle. The four navigate through the game as the Parrish mansion is overrun with wildlife – including a crocodile.

Robin Williams played a number of roles over the course of almost four decades of acting, and he even filmed scenes wrestling a crocodile.

In Jumanji, he and his co-stars are seen attempting to swim away from and fight off the animal as it swims towards them in a flooded house.

The kids climb on top of a table for safety and try to climb a chandelier before Hunt is seen closing the croc’s mouth with her feet.

Williams swims for his life before he’s pulled to safety by Pierce.

Jumanji scene is torn apart

Crocodile and alligator expert, Frank Robb, analyses famous crocodile, and alligator scenes from movies in a How Real Is It? segment from Insider this January.

He’s been catching alligators for the state of Florida through their nuisance alligator program for around 30 years.

Judging “how real” the crocodile and alligator scenes from TV shows and movies are, Frank gets to Williams’ Jumanji scene.

Crocodile expert rates scene

Williams’ 1995 Jumanji crocodile scene sees him screaming and swimming away from one as his mansion is filled with water.

The croc is seen swimming along the top of the water, which is expert Frank’s first bugbear.

He explains while one “will make its way through an area calmly,” if a crocodile was trying to get somewhere quickly, they’d be under the water.

Frank tears the scene apart further by stating a crocodile wouldn’t ever “knock someone off” of something, due to their strength, they’d simply jump up to the chandelier Williams, Dunst, and Pierce are attempting to cling onto for safety.

Williams is also seen wrestling on top of the croc, which Frank says would be simply impossible and rates the scene a savage score of “one.”

He added it was “fun, but not realistic.”
