Dolly Parton has committed a huge beauty mistake for 40 years 'for emergencies'
There’s one beauty rule every girl knows not to break, but Dolly Parton does every night, and has done for a whole 40 years.
The music icon has recently admitted to sleeping with her makeup on EVERY NIGHT for four decades in case of an emergency. But what emergencies could be so great as to risk ‘ruining’ your skin? Well, here’s her logic behind it…
Dolly Parton reveals why she sleeps in makeup
The Hollywood star recently released her new book, Behind The Seams: My Life In Rhinestones, in which she shares stories on her iconic 77 years of life.
In one excerpt, she reveals that she chose to sleep in full glam, in case she’s spotted by unexpected photographers in the streets.
The Jolene singer revealed that the habit started in the 1980s, when she first arrived in LA, partly ‘due to earthquakes.’
“I thought, “I’m not heading out on the streets without makeup in case there are cameras out there! I’m going to be ready to go!” she wrote.
Of course, she ‘properly cleans her face’ in the morning, before reapplying another layer ready for the day.
Although the paps aren’t as much of an issue in Tennessee, she also revealed how she makes the same ‘beauty mistake’ there.
“This is also true back home in Tennessee. I don’t want to go to bed looking like a hag with Carl,” she said, referring to her husband, Carl Thomas Dean.
The couple have been married for almost six decades, after tying the not in 1966. In an interview with ET Canada, the star revealed the secret to her long-lasting marriage, and no, it’s not sleeping in makeup.
“You know, there’s a lot to be said about that. So, we’re not in each other’s face all the time. He’s not in the business so we have different interests, but yet we have the things we love to do together,” she told the publication.
The country legend then shared that another aspect to their long-lasting marriage was a sense of humor.
I think humor, honestly, is one of the best things when you’re married like that. Even if you have a problem, if you have a great sense of humor, if you say something you can’t take back [you] usually have some crazy way of getting out of it.”
The country star reveals the one time you’ll see her without makeup
Although it seems like there won’t be a moment you’ll catch Dolly without makeup, earlier this month, she told PEOPLE there is one occasion.
It was in fact, “Death! You’d just have to see me laid out on a stretcher,” she joked.
However, she did then go on to list some other scenarios, but just know, it’s going to take a lot before you see this star without a full face and high heels.
“No, if my husband was sick, or if there was an emergency, of course, I would [leave the house without makeup],” she revealed.
She then went on to say she’d only step out without her full face of glam on if “there’s an absolute emergency,” and even then, it would have to be pretty serious!
